Module summary

The dissertation is your opportunity to develop your own programme of research. You may decide to expand on work undertaken as part of your course to study a problem that has interested you for some time or to research a new area of the subject altogether. Whatever you choose, it is vital that you develop a robust project with a specific problem to investigate (i.e has clear and achievable objectives).

Objectives

On completion of this module, students should be able to ...
1. Write a concise research proposal for a project that aims to effectively contribute to the literature.
2. Critically evaluate and synthesise literature.
3. Critically evaluate research methods and results.
4. Present scientific results in a professionally competent manner.

Syllabus

There are 3components to the dissertation module:
1. 1500 word research proposal - pass to progress
2. 1500 word interim report - pass to progress
3. 9000 word research paper to be submitted in journal manuscript style (100%)
