Objectives

1. To develop an understanding of the concepts associated with projects and project management;

2. To increase understanding of the relationships between projects, organisations and stakeholders;

3. To promote competence in using tools and techniques relevant to scope, integration and risk management.

Learning outcomes
On completion of the module students will be able to:

1. Develop and apply problem setting and problem solving skills for the successful planning and delivery of engineering projects (Design).

2. Understand the role and business of project-based companies (Economic, Legal, Social, Ethical and Environmental Context)

3. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of project management tools and techniques, change management, that may be used to achieve project objectives, their limitations and how they may be applied appropriately (Economic, Legal, Social, Ethical and Environmental Context)

Private study

Students will be expected to study the relevant resources, evaluate the cases associated with the module and prepare for the examinatons in their own time. These activities are estimated to require 52 hours.

Opportunities for Formative Feedback

Student progress is monitored during the tutorial sessions. Students will be expected to take an active part in the tutorials by way of presenting their thoughts/ideas and solutions in response to set case study tasks.
