Objectives

The module will provide students with opportunities to develop further their knowledge of biological concepts acquired in LLLC 1400 through the application of this knowledge to consideration of:
-a range of healthcare interventions and scenarios;
-the challenge of healthcare acquired infections;
-ethics and healthcare practice;
-the significance of the mind in health.

Learning outcomes
Students will develop knowledge of how biological concepts inform critical understanding of :

-healthcare practice, procedures and therapies,
-healthcare acquired infections
-the significance of the mind in health
-the ethics of healthcare practice.

Biological concepts and perspectives on:

-Drug-based therapies and drug interactions
-Genetic therapies
-Alternative therapies
-Healthcare practice and procedures
-Healthcare acquired infections
-The role of the mind in health
-Ethical issues associated with particular therapeutic approaches.

Opportunities for Formative Feedback
