Module summary
Introducing the 70% of the Earth's surface not covered by other courses! Study the biology, physics, chemistry and geology of the ocean. Oceanic processes which will be covered include:- the properties and circulation of sea-water; - the shape and depth of the sea-floor, the deposits and resources found on the sea bed. You will also study the oceans as an environment for life including water chemistry, food chains including coral reefs, mangrove forests, giant kelp forests and the changing Arctic ocean and finally see how humans are changing the oceans. This module is taught in semester 1 through lectures and is assessed by an Open Book Exam.Objectives
