Module summary
**Students may not take this module in the same programme year as EAST2012/EAST2013/EAST2022 or EAST2023**This module is for those who have passed Intermediate Chinese (I) or equivalent. It aims to build on previously acquired language through a variety of training to develop both language skill and cultural literacy. The selected textbook covers four units (popular culture, social change, cultural traditions and politics and history); presenting relevant and accurate information about contemporary China, introducing useful vocabulary, speech patterns and idiosyncratic language usage. There are 4 contact teaching hours per week. The module is intensive and is offered in semester two.Objectives
To continue Chinese language training, building on Intermediate (I) or equivalent language skills, so as to provide students with a consolidation of intermediate-advanced Chinese grammar and further development of their listening, speaking, reading and writing skillsLearning outcomes
To utilise Chinese fluently and accurately in all language tasks including spoken language, written work and translation between English and Chinese, using both languages accurately, with correct spelling and grammar.

The skills include intermediate - advanced grammar, listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation.

This module will cover intermediate-advanced grammatical points, sentence patterns, structure, vocabularies, translation, composition exercises, listening and conversation practice.
