Objectives

Learning outcomes

Formative SAQ’s and MCQ’s

- Explain the physiological concepts of structure and function, and homeostasis, using examples drawn from the principal body systems and functions. 
- Appraise the physiological adaptions to these systems that occur during exercise and how these systems can be disturbed by disease. 
- Explain the physiological responses in the context of exercise and training and how these might be tested and measured.  
- Explain the psychological affects in the context of exercise and training and how these might be tested and measured  
- Explain sensory and motor control of movement, and the movement and forces in the context of exercise and training and how these might be tested and measured.  
- Describe how motor control functions as a mechanistic link between physiology and psychology, and the physical processes underpinning these can be described through biomechanics   
- Explain how exercise and training are affected through metabolic responses and how these can be explained in mechanistic terms  
- Explain how exercise and training are affected through energy balance, and nutrition and how these can be explained in mechanistic terms  
- Describe how skills are developed through exercise and training and how these are affected by psychological processes 

Assignment 2

- Develop and reflect on research knowledge, skills & behaviours relevant both to the discipline, and for careers beyond the Biomedical and Exercise Sciences;

Applied concepts in Sport and Exercise Sciences

The students will receive formative feedback on SAQ’s throughout both semesters- peer marked and generic feedback
