Objectives

Learning outcomes
Assignment 1
Will Assess
- Explain how concepts covered link to concepts covered elsewhere in the programme.
- Explain the physiological concepts of structure and function, and homeostasis, using examples drawn from the principal body systems and functions.
- Appraise the physiological adaptions to these systems that occur during exercise and how these systems can be disturbed by disease.
- Explain the physiological responses in the context of exercise and training and how these might be tested and measured.
- Explain the psychological affects in the context of exercise and training and how these might be tested and measured
- Explain sensory and motor control of movement, and the movement and forces in the context of exercise and training and how these might be tested and measured.
- Describe how motor control functions as a mechanistic link between physiology and psychology, and the physical processes underpinning these can be described through biomechanics

Assignment 2 (will build on knowledge from assignment 1)
Will Assess
- Explain how concepts covered in this module link to concepts covered elsewhere in the programme.
- Explain how exercise and training are affected through metabolic responses and how these can be explained in mechanistic terms
- Explain how exercise and training are affected through energy balance, and nutrition and how these can be explained in mechanistic terms
- Describe how skills are developed through exercise and training and how these are affected by psychological processes
