Module summary

This action-focused module aims at facilitating students’ transition to Spanish-speaking work environments in a reflective and economically-informed manner. Tapping into students’ global citizenship ethos, this module combines oral and written authentic professional tasks and reading and listening comprehension of authentic resources with critical discussion of economic topics of social and political importance, and with a global dimension, in the Latin-American and Spanish contexts. It is suitable for students with no previous knowledge of business/economics.

On completion of this module students will be able to communicate in Spanish, both orally and in writing, at the level of a proficient user (C1-C2 of the Common European Framework of Reference) in a number of professional contexts.
The language of business and economics will be acquired and practised through the study of authentic texts from journalistic and political sources and the realisation of real-life professional tasks, both independently and as part of a team.
Students will also gain an insight in the economic and business topics covered.
