Module summary
Traffic Management is the process of adjusting or adapting the use of an existing road system to meet specified objectives without resorting to substantial new road construction. The objectives of traffic management have evolved reflecting the changing nature of road systems as well as changing travel patterns in the past decades. This module will equip students with knowledge of how to select, design and implement a range of appropriate measures and techniques, as well as knowledge of practical experiences for enhancing the efficiency of road transport systems for all groups of road users. In addition to UK practice, a wide range of international evidence is included to broaden the scope of module delivery.Objectives
- To develop the key concepts of traffic management and relevant techniques- To equip the students with ability to identify problems and develop solutions in the context of traffic management
- To develop the students’ technical skills in data processing and application of results

On completion of this module, the students will:

Opportunities for Formative Feedback
The lectures are delivered in an interactive approach facilitating communication between the lecturers and students.The workshops will make use of real-world data providing students with hands-on experience of problem solving and application of knowledge. Students will be working on cases in groups, supported by the lecturers during the workshops.
Students will be fully supported during the process of completing their coursework via a variety of channels including a virtual environment (e.g. VLE forums, emails etc). Feedback on coursework performance will be provided assisting the students to understand weakness in the submitted work and suggesting ways that work can be improved.
