Module summary

The aim of this intensive and rewarding language module is to take students from total beginners to about an A1 level of the CEFR, giving them the ability to produce, read, understand and translate spoken and written Portuguese in a variety of everyday contexts. The module is taught via four weekly interactive language classes including two grammar/writing skills-based classes, using a booklet especially devised by our language tutors, and two oral/ vocabulary classes with a native speaker of Portuguese. This module is not suitable for students whose level of Portuguese language competence is already A2 or above.

This module aims to develop students’ Portuguese language skills and competence up to CEFRL A1 level or equivalent.
Teaching is divided into a series of units, developing various important skills, such as the ability to work in a team, to a deadline, and the ability to assimilate and organize language material and present it in a given register, style and context, with a communicative focus.
Students should also develop an awareness of the cultures of the Portuguese-speaking world.
