Entry requirements:
Upper second class degree in law or a relevant business degree such as accounting, finance, economics, mathematics) or equivalent (including other suitably qualified graduates
Proof of proficiency in English language as follows:
(i) an English Language proficiency in TOEFL (paper based test) of at least 600 (including a score of at least 4.0 in the Test of Written English (TWE); or
(ii) a total score of 100 with at least 22 in listening, 24 in reading, 24 in speaking and 25 in writing on the TOEFL internet-based test; or
(iii) an overall IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5 (with not less than 6.5 in the reading and writing components and 6.0 on the listening and speaking components; or
(iv) PTE Academic English Language Proficiency test by Pearson with at least 64 overall and at least 64 in writing and reading and 60 in listening and speaking; AND
(v) the relevant test above must have been taken within the relevant validation period
Candidates with an IELTS score of 6.0 overall (or equivalent) with not less than 5.5 in any element may be accepted conditionally on attendance at the University Language Centre’s 6 week pre-sessional English language course.

Programme specification:
- identify and articulate the primary issues in Financial Law and Finance and to be able to explain how they are being addressed;
- demonstrate an understanding of how major aspects of Financial Law and Finance impact upon the conduct of international business;
- understand the key areas of Financial Law and Finance and their relevance to the UK, Europe and beyond;
- demonstrate a sophisticated understanding of concepts, information and techniques that relate to the rationale for and design and practice of Financial Law and Finance;
- demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of techniques applicable to conducting research in Financial Law and Finance;
- have developed the research skills to enable them to be independent researchers.

Candidates will be required to study 60 credits from the following options (students wishing to take LAW5956M Dissertation (Law and Finance) must also take LAW5662M Postgraduate Legal Research Skills).
Students who wish to study the LUBS5062M Accounting and Finance Dissertation must have a grounding in quantitative subjects. As a general rule, candidates with a 2:1 or equivalent in 5 or more relevant subjects (e.g. mathematics; economics; accounting; finance) will be considered to have a ‘good grounding’ in quantitative methods or related subjects for the purposes of eligibility for the LUBS dissertation.
