Programme specification:

The philosophy of our Engineering Project Management MSc is to help you develop a complete and in-depts understanding of Project Management. Indeed, in a dynamic and globalized marketplace, the conventional project management techniques rooted in strategic planning and control fall short. Many contemporary projects involve complex technical issues alongside complexities stemming from unclear environmental conditions. The recently updated Engineering Project Management MSc is specifically designed to nurture project managers who are adept at steering through the intricacies of the most demanding projects.

The Engineering Project Management MSc enables a transformative educational journey where the redefinition of project management takes centre stage. Our program takes a holistic view, treating projects as dynamic socio-technical systems. Sustainability is not just a module but embedded throughout the curriculum, ensuring our graduates are equipped to lead projects with an environmentally conscious approach. Leadership training goes beyond traditional boundaries, preparing our students to tackle multifaceted challenges in today's complex landscape.

Moreover, fostering teamwork is our core, creating graduates ready for the workplace. The application of abstract knowledge and theory finds a practical home in our simulated environments, bridging the gap between conceptual understanding and real-world implementation. Also, our contemporary and research-informed education ensures our students are at the forefront of project management advancements. Join us in shaping the future of project leadership, where innovation, sustainability, and leadership converge to create the next generation of project management trailblazers.

The program spans many different industries, and the career opportunities are vast. However, the success of any large or small-scale engineering project not only relies on technical skills alone. It needs specialists with a scope of skills and competency in areas like sustainability, strategy and organization to ensure the project meets the brief’s requirements.

Studying our Engineering Project Management MSc will build your knowledge of the entire project management process, from inception and feasibility to implementation and operation.

You’ll study in the School of Civil Engineering which ranks highly globally and is actively involved in developing ‘internationally excellent’ research — much of which shapes the course.

This means you’ll be learning industry-relevant knowledge and developing a professional skill set sought after by almost every industry worldwide, opening the door to many career paths in areas like engineering, construction, energy, transport, education and environment.

During your studies, you’ll also have access to specialist facilities that will enhance your learning and be taught by experts who have industry experience in a range of relevant fields.
