- ABB at A-level, including A in English and B in Music, excluding General Studies and Critical Thinking.
- International Baccalaureate: 34 points overall, including 16 at Higher Level and a minimum of 6 in English at Higher Level and a minimum of 6 in Music at Higher Level.
- Applications welcome from mature students with Access qualifications and from students with international or other non-A-level qualifications

Programme specification:

The programme will:
- enable students to work across more than one discipline by providing the flexibility to study three disciplines at level one;
- allow the study of two disciplines to the same depth as any single honours student but with less breadth in each discipline;
- provide a basis for further advanced study in either of the disciplines or in a cognate interdisciplinary area.

General
- The distinctiveness, appeal and strength of University of Leeds joint honours programmes lie in the unusual combination of depth, breadth and flexibility which they offer, as well as in the exceptional range of degree combinations available.
- They permit students to study two disciplines, in depth and to degree level while acquiring a broader range of skills than is typically possible within a single honours degree.
- They are emphatically joint honours programmes, rather than integrated programmes: students can therefore make the links they choose from the wide choice of optional modules available within each discipline. Within certain parameters, they thus effectively make connections and devise pathways according to their own preferences, rather than being faced with a prescribed combination of modules chosen for them by others.
- The students must acquire the flexibility of mind and variety of learning techniques needed to switch between the two disciplines.
- A further element of distinctiveness is the flexibility of the programme structure, which allows joint honours students to change direction more easily, and more radically, than single honours students.
- Many of these programmes also allow the opportunity to undertake a work placement, field work or study abroad.

Students must study 120 credits at Level 1.

Candidates are required to take at least 40 credits of Music modules and 40 credits of English modules at Level 1. The additional 40 credits of study may be School of Music, School of English, or Discovery modules from outside of the teaching schools.

Candidates may choose to take 40 credits from this list OR to take at least 20 credits from this list plus a maximum of 40 credits of Discovery modules from outside the Schools of English or Music.

Candidates must study at least 40 credits from the following modules:

Candidates may only take MUSS1324 in addition to at least 40 other credits of Music modules from the above list.

Discovery modules:

Candidates may study a maximum of 20 credits of Discovery modules from the suite available across the University outside of the named subjects (English or Music).

Students must take 120 credits in Level 2.

Over levels 2 and 3 combined, students must take:
1. English - a minimum of 80 credits (at least 40 credits must be at Level 3)
2. Music - a minimum of 80 credits (at least 40 credits must be at Level 3)
3. At least 100 credits at Level 2
4. At least 100 credits at Level 3.

Additionally, students must take:
5. a further 40 credits in the named subjects (i.e. in English, Music, or a combination of both).
6. a further 40 credits in either the named subjects (English or Music) or in Discovery modules (i.e. outside the named subjects).

In order to be eligible for an honours degree, students must:
- meet the Rules for Award
- pass all modules which are designated 'pass for progression'
- pass the required number of credits at each level (a minimum of 100 credits at each Levels 1, 2 & 3) as specified in the Curricular Regulations

Optional modules:

CORE MODULES
Candidates are required to study at least TWO of the following CORE modules (40 credits). In addition candidates can also opt to study one or two further CORE modules (up to 40 credits) or choose 40 credits from the list of OPTION modules.

OPTION MODULES
Candidates may choose to study additional Level 2 CORE modules (listed above) in the place of OPTION modules at Level 2 or study further credits (up to 40 credits) from the following list of OPTION modules, in accordance with the credit rules.

Candidates will be required to study at least 40 credits from the following optional modules. Candidates must ensure that at Level 2 they take modules that are pre-requisites for any modules they anticipate taking at Level 3.

Candidates may not take more than one of MUSS2320 Performance and MUSS2324 Ensemble Performance within their core 40 credits of Music. Candidates wishing to take both modules must therefore use some of their Discovery credit to take one of them and choose another music module as part of their core.

Discovery modules:

Candidates may choose to study up to 40 credits of Discovery modules over both Level 2 and 3 or pursue additional modules in the two named subjects.

Students must take 120 credits in Level 3 and must take a Final Year Project in either Music or English.

Over levels 2 and 3 combined, students must take:
1. English - a minimum of 80 credits (at least 40 credits must be at Level 3)
2. Music - a minimum of 80 credits (at least 40 credits must be at Level 3)
3. At least 100 credits at Level 2
4. At least 100 credits at Level 3.

Additionally, students must take:
5. a further 40 credits in the named subjects (i.e. in English, Music, or a combination of both).
6. a further 40 credits in either the named subjects (English or Music) or in Discovery modules (i.e. outside the named subjects).

1. English - a minimum of 40 credits
2. Music - a minimum of 40 credits
3. No more than 70 credits in one semester

OPTION MODULES
Candidates may choose to study further credits from the following list of OPTION modules, in accordance with with the programme requirements for Level 3:

1. English - a minimum of 40 credits
2. Music - a minimum of 40 credits
3. No more than 70 credits in one semester

NB Candidates may only choose a Level 2 English module from the above list if all their remaining 100 final year credits are at Level 3, ie SUBJ3XXX.

Candidates who have NOT chosen to undertake a Final Year Project in Music MUST study at least 40 credits from the following list of optional modules.
