Programme specification:
MA Digital Design Futures at the School of Design will equip students with the theoretical understanding and practical skills needed to enter this fast-paced, rapidly-evolving area of design. Beginning with the theories of immersion and related the neuroscience, students will then gain hands-on experience working directly with the latest software and hardware through a series of creative projects in our new, dedicated, studio XLAB. As Design Thinking & Human Centred Design underpin the programme, students will learn how to design for and with their target audiences in order that the resultant designs best meet the needs of those they set out to serve. Alongside, exposure to Entrepreneurial Thinking will help students to capitalise on the creative opportunities presented by big data & technologies such as VR, AR, IoT, AI & projection mapping. Through industry & third sector collaborations from around the UK, students will be introduced to the varied applications of the technology in sectors such as branding & marketing, retail & fashion and health & education to name a few. As demand for digital skills rises, this is a unique opportunity for students to challenge themselves creatively and align themselves with the future needs of industry and society as a whole.
