Entry requirements:
This programme is open to UK home students. International students are directed to the Internal Foundation Year- Science and Healthcare
1. A Level or Level 3 equivalent qualifications, excluding critical thinking and general studies, or equivalent.
BBC – ABB including Chemistry or Biology. If Chemistry is not offered then Biology must be offered with either Physics or Maths at A ‘level. If Biology and Chemistry are offered and A levels (achieved or predicted) are ABB then should apply for MB BCh via Access to Leeds.
2. GCSEs
Grade A*-C or 9-4 in 6 subjects minimum including Maths, English Language and Science.
3 University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT)
All candidates must sit the UCAT prior to application. We do not set a threshold pass mark for UCAT. Only one result will be considered, and this will be a sitting of UCAT during the year of application. No other aptitude tests are accepted.

Not applicable as course is pre-medicine entry. There is no QAA Framework for HE qualifications in the Foundation Year, or level 0. The programme content is very well informed by sharing good practise and experience with other institutions in the sector who offer a similar ‘Gateway to Medicine’ Year in other HE Institutions.
Programme specification:
The programme has been developed to provide a new Gateway to Medicine route for students who meet Leeds Widening Participation criteria.
The programme will equip students with effective study strategies and confidence in communicating with a wide range of people including health professionals and patients and carers. Students will develop appreciation of patient care and team roles and the patient journey within the context of the NHS and voluntary services through placement experience.
The programme will inspire confidence and ambition in students to ensure successful transition and progression through undergraduate medicine in Leeds.
