Programme specification:

This programme offers a qualifying law degree and thus much of its content is constrained by the requirements of the legal profession. The focus on both skills and theoretical knowledge and understanding of the law will mark this programme out from more practice-based degrees, while the availability of other employability skills-enhancing opportunities (through our extensive School co-curricular opportunities) marks the degree out as a distinctive from many Russell Group universities. The degree places an appropriate emphasis on the academic rigour required of students progressing through an LLB programme at a Russell Group University.
The German Law and language aspect of the programme distinguishes it from other law degrees in enabling students to acquire specific cross-cultural competence through the study of two very different legal systems, as well as through the acquisition of a high level of linguistic competence in German. Both of these aspects are highly valued in the employment market. The Leeds Law with German Law degree combines these aspects with the combination of research and skills training which characterises the Leeds Law degree.
