Entry requirements:

BSc 1st class or 2i, or equivalent (for example a pass in MBChB, BDS), in a relevant scientific discipline which would normally be one of the biological sciences but a natural sciences graduate will be considered. Subject to University regulations MBChB or BDS students who had completed 3 years of study would be eligible to intercalate.
English language requirements: An IELTS (Academic) score of 7.0 with at least 6.0 in writing and 6.5 in all other components.

Programme specification:

On completion of the programme students should have shown evidence of being able:
- to demonstrate an in-depth, specialist knowledge and sophisticated understanding of Cancer Biology and Therapy driven by research and advanced scholarship;
- to exhibit mastery in the critical appraisal of current literature and developments relevant to Cancer Biology and Therapy;
- to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of techniques and research methods applicable to Cancer Biology and Therapy;
- to use a range of techniques and research methods applicable to advanced study of Cancer Biology and Therapy;
- to develop and defend personal interpretation of research in areas of Cancer Biology and Therapy where current evidence is complex, incomplete or contradictory;
- proactively to formulate ideas and hypotheses and to develop, implement and execute plans by which to evaluate these;
- to study Cancer Biology and Therapy independently;
- to take a proactive and self-reflective role in working and to develop professional relationships with others;
- to conduct research in Cancer Biology and Therapy

The programme will:
- provide structured individualised learning and training in a research environment of international excellence;
- be delivered by academics at the forefront of knowledge generation ranging from molecular discovery to translational application;
- engage students in research projects using the latest technologies that generate results with scientific impact and potential for improving patient health;
- equip students for a range of biomedical scientific careers in the area of Cancer Biology and Therapy.
