Normally students will have achieved 2:1 Hons in an appropriate degree subject or 2.2 with appropriate experience In exceptional circumstances, we may also consider applicants who don’t have a degree but do have a professional qualification and/or relevant work experience.

International students whose first language is not English must also satisfy the University of Leeds requirement for English Language.
IELTS (6.5 overall with not less than 6.0 in all components);
TOEFL iBT (92 overall with at least 21 in listening and reading, 23 in speaking, and 22 in writing).

Overview
This course prepares you to find sustainable and innovative textile solutions to address global environmental and societal challenges. The School of Design, with rich textile heritage, provides a unique interface of design and (sustainable) technology .This interface is the key to develop and innovate products that meet the needs of changing market demands and are commercially relevant.
The MSc will cater for students from diverse educational backgrounds. The programme will empower you with apparel and textile design technology core skills to steer sustainable innovation in fashion, textile and associated sectors. In line with your career aspirations, you will choose optional modules and pursue a sustainability and/or innovation-focused research dissertation in an enabling studio/laboratory environment.
Dedicated staff will provide expert knowledge in sustainability, fashion & textile technology, innovation, futuristic manufacturing methods, colour technology, healthcare and technical textiles. Your school provides access to world class facilities in a stimulating environment and a purpose-built infrastructure.
Specialist facilities
We have excellent facilities to help you make the most of your time at Leeds, including well-equipped laboratories and purpose-built computer clusters. Specialist facilities include: polymer synthesis, fibre extrusion, yarn and fabric (knitted, woven, nonwoven) development, colouration and finishing (including digital printing) and a well-equipped materials testing and characterisation laboratory. We have recently invested over £4.4 million upgrading our facilities including labs, workshops, studios and student space. Recent additions in equipment include 3D weaving, atmospheric plasma functionalisation, 3D printing, and EEG/eye-tracking technology. You will have the opportunity to develop skills and techniques for using equipment, particularly in relation to the research you will undertake for your dissertation.
