Programme specification:
This Online Distance Learning programme will: introduce students to skills, perspectives and current research in digital education. They will have opportunities to apply and reflect on this new knowledge in relation to both their own learning and to their professional contexts. As the programme is aimed at work-based professionals, students will immediately see the relevance of programme content to the practice of digital education. The dialogic Online Distance Learning delivery of the programme, with both ‘input’ material from tutors and regular student discussions, will provide a balance of opportunities to receive expertise from academic staff and also to learn from each other. The range of digital tools now available and the variety of backgrounds/countries from which students will be drawn means that there will be genuine reciprocal learning between tutors and students. In a field where research can often overstate conclusions from short-term interventions, students will learn to approach research critically.
Students on this programme will understand theories of learning underpinning effective use of digital tools; have skills to use and evaluate technologies that are currently available and be introduced to digital strategy and policy, and discuss current and future digital technologies within education settings They will reflect on their own experiences as a digital learner and consider the implications for their own professional context. Students will be well- prepare for futher study and will be encouraged to consider continuing on to the Postgraduate Diploma or Masters in Digital Education.
