Learning outcomes
By the end of Level 1, students will: 1. demonstrate a familiarity with the basic concepts, information, practical competencies and techniques which are standard features of the disciplines of English and Film Studies. 2. demonstrate an ability to evaluate the appropriateness of different approaches to problem solving associated with the disciplines of English and Film Studies. 3. demonstrate an awareness of the professional and disciplinary boundaries that define English and Film Studies. Skills Learning OutcomesBy the end of Level 1, students will: 1. be able to demonstrate a certain degree of critical reflection and judgement 2. be able to communicate effectively in interpersonal settings, and in writing 3. be able to deliver work to a given length, format, brief and deadline
Assessment
The Subject Specific and Skills Learning outcomes can be met through the three core modules, regardless of optionality. The core modules embed a variety of alternative forms of assessments, including reflective logs, portfolios and group presentations, preparing students for diverse modes of assessment later in the programme. Forms of assessment differ across the option modules, with an emphasis on different types of coursework.
