Assessment

In semester 1, the assessment of learning outcomes and skills at year 1 adopts a pass/fail approach, to help students transition into the HE environment, to encourage ambition without the pressure of receiving a categorisation into grade boundaries. In semester 2, students are graded categorically. In year 1 students typically work in small groups, to develop collaborative skills, and to be able to approach assessment with the support of peers. Independent work (often in written assignments) is guided by tutors toward assessment, with clear information provided about expectations.
