BA Theatre and Performance with Enterprise

Learning outcomes

Subject Specific Learning Outcomes:
1. Integrate comprehensive knowledge of theatre, performance, and enterprise to lead projects.
2. Critically engage with and apply a range of theoretical perspectives within the cultural industries.
3. Develop and execute a research-based project with an innovative approach.
4. Navigate the uncertainties and ambiguities within the discipline to produce creative solutions.
Year 3 - Skills Learning Outcomes:
1. Operate autonomously and collaboratively to achieve complex creative and entrepreneurial goals.
2. Critically evaluate and adapt to the evolving demands of the cultural industries.
3. Foster professional competencies in line with recent developments in the field.
Year 3 - Competence Standards:
1. Lead in the creation and execution of a collaborative, research-based performance project.
2. Demonstrate a high level of engagement with performance and enterprise, conforming to professional norms.
3. Showcase adaptability and resilience in dynamic and diverse cultural industry contexts.

Learning outcomes
On completion of the year/programme students should have provided evidence of being able to:
• understanding and applying specialist, degree-related knowledge while working in a non-academic environment;
• an enhanced understanding of an area of graduate employment in relation to their placement experience(s);
• appreciation of employment and career opportunities


Optional International Year
Learning outcomes
On completion of the year/programme students should have provided evidence of being able to:
• follow a programme of study for an academic year at an agreed exchange destination outside the UK;
• show developing ability and experience in reflective practice, in support of personal academic development (normally in an on-line format) in accordance with School guidelines;

Optional Industrial Year
Students will have had the opportunity to acquire, as defined in the modules specified for the programme:
• communication (written and oral)
• organisational and personal/time management
• problem solving
• setting objectives
• negotiating and interaction with employers and work colleagues
• meeting deadlines
• accepting criticism
• self-awareness of strengths and limitations


Optional International Year
Students will have had the opportunity to acquire, as defined in the modules specified for the programme:
• the ability to gather and critically evaluate information from a variety of sources;
• skills necessary for the communication of information, ideas, problems, and solutions in a variety of ways
• the exercise of initiative, personal responsibility and decision making;
• personal skills required to live and study successfully in the environment of the foreign country.

Assessment

The assessment of learning outcomes and skills at level 3 builds on previous years, with students demonstrating greater independence in their approaches to assessment through modules. Many assessment points require students to work independently in research-based projects, bringing together knowledge and skills developed through the programme that allow students a greater degree of choice or to take different assessment pathways depending on their interests and strengths. Student assessment typically includes group practical presentations, group performance-making, and independent essay and report assignments.

Optional Industrial Year
Assessment is via a presentation and critical reflective essay which must be completed and passed to qualify for the year in industry award. This does not form part of the classification.

Optional International Year
Assessment is via a presentation and critical reflective essay which must be completed and passed to qualify for the year in industry award. This does not form part of the classification.
