Learning outcomes
On completion of the year students should have provided evidence of:- being able to speak and understand everyday conversation with native speakers, read texts of an intermediate level and write grammatically accurate Russian;- having acquired academic and practical knowledge of contemporary Russia;- having learned how to live and study successfully in Russia.
Transferable (key) skills
Students will have had the opportunity to develop and practise:- qualities and transferable skills related to Russian and Slavonic Studies, valuable for employment, eg. be able to gather and process information from a variety of paper, audio-visual and electronic sources, report writing skills;- interpersonal skills required to operate in Russian Society;- skills necessary for the exercising of personal responsibility;- the ability to appreciate their strengths and weaknesses as learners.
Assessment
Achievement will be assessed on a Pass / Fail basis by:- demonstrating the knowledge and application of standard concepts, information and techniques relevant to the area of study;- work that covers a restricted area of the subject;- demonstrating emerging abilities, skills and competencies.Assessment methods include:Students must satisfy the examiners at TsMO, passing all examinations and class tests set by TsMO with a grade of 3 or above (on a scale of 1-5). Students must submit a written outline plan of their Residence Abroad project to the Department in January. Students must attend a minimum of 70% of classes run by TsMO. Students must receive a satisfactory report from TsMO on conduct and work.
