Learning outcomes

1. explain how sociological ideas are constructed, and be familiar with the contexts in which arguments and theories are formed;
2. describe and evaluate some of the key approaches and methods within sociology;
3. present structured and coherent sociological arguments in both written and verbal formats;
4. critically reflect on taken for granted assumptions about the social world;
5. articulate the relationship between individuals, groups and social institutions.

Skills Learning Outcomes
1. Develop analytical and critical thinking skills
2. Work collaboratively as part of a group.
3. Be able to reference citations in the appropriate style and understand the importance of academic integrity
4. Work independently through self-directed and active learning, managing both time and resources effectively

Assessment

1. Demonstrating the knowledge and application of standard concepts, information and techniques relevant to the discipline;
2. Work that covers a restricted area of the disciplines;
3. Demonstrating emerging abilities, skills and competencies especially with regards to critical reading
