Learning outcomes
Subject Specific Learning Outcomes On completion of Level 2, you will be able to:1. recognise and discuss aspects of Ancient History and Philosophy: the aspect(s) involved will depend on choice of options.2. discuss central contexts, texts and theories in central areas of the two disciplines.3. demonstrate a more detailed understanding of the nature of philosophical thought and methodology, and more advanced application of the skills needed to critically evaluate and identify different forms of philosophical argument. 4. reflect upon the problematic nature of historical interpretation and evidence, and appropriately apply critical terminology.Skills Learning OutcomesOn completion of Level 2, you will be able to:1. effectively communicate information, arguments and analysis in a variety of forms, making use of appropriate critical terminology.2. initiate and undertake the analysis of data and information, applying standard techniques for close work on sources.3. identify and employ the main methods of enquiry in the disciplines and critically evaluate the appropriateness of different methods of enquiry.4. adjust to professional and disciplinary boundaries.
Assessment
Achievement will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes of the modules specified for the year/programme. These may include essays, presentations, source analysis exercises, literature reviews, bibliography exercises, museum/object reports, commentaries, creative writing exercises, computer exercises, virtual exhibitions and exams.
