Learning outcomes
Subject Specific Learning Outcomes On completion of Level 3, you will be able to:1. demonstrate and apply coherent and detailed knowledge of of the key concepts, information, practical competencies and techniques which constitute Ancient History and Philosophy.2. undertake independent study into a chosen topic or topics in Ancient History and/or Philosophy.3. analyse in depth particular aspects of Ancient History and Philosophy, describing and commenting on particular aspects of recent research in your historical and philosophical specialism(s).4. apply your understanding of philosophical areas of enquiry, concepts and methodologies, to effectively develop and articulate your own philosophical view.Skills Learning OutcomesOn completion of Level 3, you will be able to:1. demonstrate a conceptual understanding which enables you to construct, develop and sustain an argument, identifying and accurately deploying standard techniques of analysis and enquiry within the two disciplines.2. independently locate and make appropriate use of scholarly literature and primary sources.3. initiate, research and complete an extended piece of work or project.4. conform to disciplinary boundaries and norms where applicable, and recognise the uncertainty, ambiguity and limitations of knowledge in the disciplines.
Assessment
Achievement will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes of the modules specified for the year/programme. These may include an extended research project, essays, presentations, source analysis exercises, commentaries, creative writing exercises, computer exercises, virtual exhibitions and exams.
