Learning outcomes

On completion of Level 1, you will be able to:
1. recognise and apply the basic concepts, information, practical competencies and techniques which are standard features of the study of Classical Literature and Philosophy.
2. demonstrate basic understanding of the broad field of Classical Literature, and discuss particular aspects of some major genres of ancient Greek and Latin literature.
3. demonstrate a basic knowledge of philosophy within some of the main areas of the discipline, including epistemology and metaphysics, and ethics and political philosophy, through accurate explanation of ideas and debates
4. interpret and evaluate the underlying basic concepts and principles of the study of Classical Literature and Philosophy.

Skills Learning Outcomes
On completion of Level 1, you will be able to:
1. communicate the results of your work by presenting structured and coherent simple arguments.
2. identify disciplinary scope and boundaries, and appraise your strengths and weaknesses as a learner.
3. evaluate different perspectives through the use of supporting evidence and appropriate sources.
4. recognise and reflect on some basic concepts, problems and arguments in some central areas of the two disciplines.

Assessment

Achievement will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes of the modules specified for the year/programme. These may include essays, presentations, commentaries, creative writing assignments and exams.
