Learning outcomes

On completion of Level 2, you will be able to:
1. recognise and apply the concepts, information, practical competencies and techniques which are standard features in a range of aspects of the discipline.
2. engage in advanced study of at least two of: Virgil’s Aeneid; Homer’s Iliad; the comparative history of Ancient Empires and ‘Invisible Greeks and Romans’.
3. describe and analyse particular aspects of classical antiquity: the aspect(s) involved will depend on choice of options and may be linguistic, literary, historical and/or philosophical.

Skills Learning Outcomes
On completion of Level 2, you will be able to:
1. effectively communicate information, arguments and analysis in a variety of forms.
2. apply generic and subject specific intellectual qualities to standard situations outside the context in which they were originally studied.
3. identify and employ the main methods of enquiry in the subject and critically evaluate the appropriateness of different methods of enquiry.
4. use a range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods to initiate and undertake the analysis of data and information.
5. adjust to disciplinary boundaries.

Assessment

Achievement will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes of the modules specified for the year/programme. These may include essays, presentations, source analysis exercises, literature reviews, bibliography exercises, museum/object reports, commentaries, creative writing exercises, computer exercises, virtual exhibitions and exams.
