Learning outcomes
On completion of Level 3, you will be able to:1. demonstrate and apply coherent and detailed subject knowledge and competencies some of which will be informed by current research/scholarship in the discipline.2. undertake independent study into a chosen topic or topics in Classics.3. analyse in depth particular aspects of classical antiquity: the aspect(s) involved will depend on choice of options and may be literary, historical and/or philosophical.4. describe and comment on particular aspects of current research and/or scholarship.Skills Learning OutcomesOn completion of Level 3, you will be able to:1. demonstrate a conceptual understanding which enables you to construct, develop and sustain an argument, identifying and accurately deploying standard techniques of analysis and enquiry within the discipline.2. independently locate and make appropriate use of scholarly literature and primary sources.3. initiate, plan and carry out an extended piece of work or project.4. conform to disciplinary boundaries and norms where applicable, and recognise the uncertainty, ambiguity and limitations of knowledge in the discipline.
Assessment
Achievement will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes of the modules specified for the year/programme. These may include an extended research project, essays, presentations, source analysis exercises, commentaries, creative writing exercises, computer exercises, virtual exhibitions and exams.
