Learning outcomes
On successful completion of this programme, graduates will be able to:• Examine and discuss recent scholarship in film, photography and media, using detailed subject knowledge and professional competencies• Develop sustained arguments that demonstrate conceptual understanding of relevant theory and/or practice• Critically appraise aspects of recent research in relation to media history, politics, theory and production• Implement professional boundaries and norms including the production of work reflecting professional standards in the media industries.• Design and develop original materials, using applied knowledge, to realise an extended piece of research or creative project.Skills Learning Outcomes1. Time and Project Management: the ability to design and execute an extended project using independent time management, initiative and personal responsibility. 2. Communication Skills: the ability to communicate advanced information, ideas, problems and solutions in film production and/or independent research projects to a variety of audiences.3. Ethical Literacy: the ability to understand media ethics and the moral principles that govern a person's behaviour or the conducting of an activity within a film or photography production or while researching a topic in the field of media and communication.
Assessment
Assessment is aligned to the learning outcomes of each module, so students will be assessed through a variety of methods dependent on the module and the level of the programme. At level 3, this will include a double weighted independent project (either research based or practice based), but may also include research essays, group presentations, reflective critiques, literature reviews, interviews or portfolio work.
