Learning outcomes

By the end of Year 2, you will be able to:
1. Demonstrate awareness and appreciation of the structures and registers of French (to a B2 Level of the CEFR for the students in Route A and to a B1 Level for the students in Route B).
2. Communicate effectively and appropriately in French on a range of topics with a reasonable degree of grammatical accuracy.
3. Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and an ability to respond appropriately in social contexts where French is used.
4. Identify specific aspects of the culture, history, literature and society of some of the countries where French is spoken and locate them within this broader background.
5. Contextualize extracts of texts (film, literature, and media) and provide an in-depth analysis of both the content and the expressive form.
6. Undertake comparative and critical analysis of cultures and societies.

Skills Learning Outcomes

By the end of Year 2, you will be able to:
1. Design and conduct research by identifying appropriate methods. .
2. Present a structured and nuanced argument and communicate to an audience using appropriate terminology and concepts whether in a piece of writing or in a presentation.
3. Identify and critically evaluate sources of evidence and data pertinent to the research project or investigation. .
4. Make connections across differing perspectives in order to explore ideas, identify problems and provide solutions.
5. Use a wider range of resources and techniques to undertake your research (to include digital tools and resources, expanding your digital literacy).
6. Demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines.
7. Demonstrate the ability to work effectively and creatively as part of a team, practising problem-solving.

Assessment

Achievement will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes of the modules specified for the year/programme. These may include essays, commentaries, portfolio, individual and group presentations, close readings, text comparisons, creating writing assignments, podcasts and exams.
