Learning outcomes

By the end of Level 3, you will be able to:
1. Communicate fluently and appropriately, maintaining high degree of grammatical accuracy in German (to C1-C2 Level of the CEFR for all students).
2. Demonstrate a consolidated and extended knowledge and understanding of complex structures and registers in the German language.
3. Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and an ability to see the world’s societies and cultures from multiple perspectives.
4. Show advanced engagement with multiple genres to support effective work and functioning in another country.
5. Show a broad understanding and cultural awareness of societies where German is spoken.
6. Demonstrate depth of engagement with the culture, history, literature and society of some of the countries where German is spoken.
7. Make use of specialist knowledge to engage critically with current debates in the field(s) of study.

Skills Learning Outcomes

By the end of Level 3, you will be able to:
1. Produce an autonomous piece of extended research under the guidance of a supervisor.
2. Present a structured and sustained argument and communicate persuasively and professionally to an audience using technical terminology and concepts.
3. Evaluate and critically synthesize complex information and debates in a specific research domain.
4. Reflect on, and work in accordance with, the ethical considerations raised in the research process.
5. Make connections across differing perspectives in order to explore ideas, identify problems and provide solutions.
6. Demonstrate integrity in use of material and ability to make reference to sources following conventions appropriate to the discipline.
7. Use a wider range of resources and techniques to undertake your research (to include digital tools and resources).
8. Demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines through working effectively on project (including the FYP).
9. Demonstrate the ability to work effectively as part of a team

Assessment

Achievement will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes of the modules specified for the year/programme, in English and German, and may include research projects, essays, individual and group presentations, creative writing exercises, portfolio, podcasts, translations, reflective logs and oral exams.
