Learning outcomes
1. Apply effectively the theory and practice of public history to real-world problems; 2. Engage significantly with scholarly debates on the past, critically evaluate diverse perspectives, and formulate independent arguments that are historiographically informed; 3. Use key sociological theories and approaches to further understand the challenges faced by contemporary societies; 4. Critically assess a range of theories, approaches and methods in sociology, including qualitative and quantitative research methods and the appropriateness of different methods of enquiry in sociologySkills Learning Outcomes1. Apply a range of techniques and approaches to analyse data and information.2. Communicate complex ideas tailored to the needs of academic and public audiences; 3. Work with others to produce successful group projects; 4. Manage time and resources well and prioritise work efficiently and productively to meet deadlines.
Assessment
BA History and Sociology uses a combination of different assessment methods to capture the range of ways that students learn on the programme. At Level 2 assessment types across our compulsory and optional modules typically include: digital portfolios, zines, online exhibitions, magazine articles, as well as academic essays, primary source essays, and online exams.
