Learning outcomes

1. Effectively identify historians’ arguments and examine the foundations of their case
2. Investigate the wider historiographical context and concepts within which a particular body of work is situated
3. Explain key concepts in twentieth- and twenty-first century international history
4. Identify and assess the principal sources of conflict and stability in international relations from the end of the First World War to the present

Skills Learning Outcomes
1. Build capacity for independent and self-directed study, developing good time-management and organisational skills to fulfil module commitments and deliver work on time
2. Engage constructively with the ideas of peers, tutors and published sources, and different cultural contexts
3. Construct arguments and analyses in response to particular problems in international history

Assessment

The BA in International History and Politics uses a combination of different assessment methods to capture the range of ways that students learn on the programme. At Level 1 assessment types in our compulsory modules typically include political briefing papers, online exhibitions, podcasts, presentations, as well as bibliographic exercises, essays, and online exams.
