Learning outcomes
1. Engage significantly with scholarly debates on the past, critically evaluate diverse perspectives, and formulate independent arguments that are historiographically informed. 2. Analyse primary sources critically and empathetically and use sources to present specific interpretations about the past. 3. Apply fundamental standards and practices of historical study for research, discussion, and assessed work Skills Learning Outcomes1. Manage time and resources well and prioritise work efficiently and productively to meet deadlines.2. Initiate, research, and complete a long essay project based on secondary sources.3. Reflect insightfully upon the nature of history and the limitations of historical evidence.
Assessment
The BA in International History and Politics uses a combination of different assessment methods to capture the range of ways that students learn on the programme. At Level 2 assessment types across our compulsory and optional modules typically include: book reviews, presentations, primary source analyses (‘gobbets’) and essays, historiographical essays, long essays, and online exams.
