Learning outcomes

4. Construct simple mathematical argument.

5. Appreciate the importance of formal mathematical definitions.

6. Recognise and manipulate common mathematical symbols.

7. Write in coherent mathematical sentences.

8. Show acquaintance with some mathematical software or programming languages.

9. Appreciate that ethical issues exist in the study and practice of mathematics. Appreciate the importance of academic integrity.

20. Recognise different, valid justifications of the same mathematical fact

Assessment

The majority of modules will be assessed through a combination of in-person exams and coursework assignments. The form of the coursework will vary from module to module but typically would involve solving sets of problems which may or may not require the use of computer packages or computer programming. Project based modules will be assessed through written submissions and presentations.
