Learning outcomes

1. Developing ability and experience in reflective practice, in support of personal/academic development (normally in an on-line format) in accordance with School guidelines.
2. Broadened knowledge in specific areas of the appropriate discipline and/or related subject(s).
3. Knowledge of the culture, institutions and working practices of another country.
4. Academic and personal development in the environment of a foreign institution.
5. Working knowledge of another European language (European placements only).

Skills outcomes
1. The ability to gather and critically evaluate information from a variety of sources.
2. Skills necessary for the communication of information, ideas, problems, and solutions in a variety of ways.
3. The exercise of initiative, personal responsibility and decision making.
4. Personal skills required to live and work successfully in the environment of the foreign country.

Learning outcomes
1. the culture of another country and reflect on similarities and differences with your home culture;
2. have gained an international perspective;
3. have developed greater skill in a foreign language, and insight into the local culture through knowledge of the language;
4. have broadened their academic perspective through study of a range of subjects, which may or may not include their degree subject(s);
5. have developed self-confidence, flexibility, resourcefulness, communication skills, organisational skills and other personal skills.
6. a critical understanding of 'culture' and the 'intercultural'.
7. an ability to distinguish between essentialist and non-essentialist discourses and representations of culture.
