Learning outcomes
On completion of the level 2 of the programme you should have provided evidence of being able to: 1. Demonstrate an increasingly applied and integrated understanding of concepts and information from a range of biological sciences subjects and their applications to biotechnology. 2. Select appropriate experimental approaches to test hypotheses and implement these proficiently. 3. Apply computational and statistical approaches to interrogate and analyse data and information including the effective use of large biological data sets. 4. Analyse forms of entrepreneurship and enterprising activity in relation to economic and societal outcomes on local and global levels. 5. Apply relevant enterprise development processes, related to appropriate personal, industry and subject-specific issues. Skills Learning Outcomes 1. Synthesise, and critically evaluate scientific information from diverse sources, to e.g. generate hypotheses, propose solutions and develop logical and well-reasoned arguments. 2. Use a variety of approaches to effectively communicate complex biological sciences information, both individually and in teams. 3. Demonstrate commercial awareness in relation to economic and societal outcomes on local and global levels. 4. Implement and evaluate the appropriateness of different approaches to problem solving associated with enterprise and entrepreneurship activity.
Assessment
We use a variety of assessment methods to help you develop and assess the specific learning and skills outcomes for each year. At level 2 these include assessed practical work, data handling and problem-solving exercises, teamwork, online and face-to-face discussion groups, computer-based simulations, essays, and oral presentations. There will be opportunities to complete practice questions and receive feedback to support learning.
