Learning outcomes
Students will build on the foundational knowledge of L1 to: 1. Understand, apply, and analyse different theoretical approaches to new situations and case studies. These approaches will be drawn from a range of sustainability-related disciplines. 2. Appreciate and employ interdisciplinary research approaches, and critically evaluate the appropriateness of different approaches in different contexts and to address different questions. 3. Critically assess how societies, individuals, and organisations interact with the environment and approach sustainability, understanding the strengths and weaknesses of different sustainability approaches. Skills Learning OutcomesBy the end of this year, students will be able to: 1. Use a range of quantitative and qualitative research methods to plan, collect, and analyse data 2. Interpret these data and analyses based on appropriate theories and concepts 3. Develop a clear plan for personal and career development
Assessment
Students will be expected to move beyond the description and discussion of L1. Assessments will provide the opportunity for students to demonstrate that they can apply concepts and ideas in new situations and analyse novel case studies based on their existing knowledge. Assessments will be designed to encourage students to use interdisciplinary thinking and draw insights from a range of sources, disciplines, and modules to evaluate and critique received wisdom, and to formulate and defend their own intellectual positions.
