Learning outcomes
Subject Specific Learning Outcomes 1. Demonstrate an increasingly applied and integrated understanding of concepts and information from a range of zoological subjects.2. Demonstrate an awareness of a broad range of global issues in biology and how zoological research can be applied to construct potential solutions3. Select appropriate experimental approaches to test hypotheses and implement these proficiently4. Apply computational and statistical approaches to interrogate and analyse data and informationSkills Learning OutcomesStudents will have had the opportunity to acquire, as defined in the modules specified for the programme:1. Synthesise, and critically evaluate scientific information from diverse sources, to e.g. generate hypotheses, propose solutions and develop logical and well-reasoned arguments;2. Use a variety of approaches to effectively communicate complex biological information;3. Understand and evaluate how zoology can shape global contexts and how knowledge of the subject contributes to addressing relevant global challenges.
Assessment
We use a variety of assessment methods to help you develop and assess the specific learning and skills outcomes. At level 2 these include assessed practical work, involving safety competencies, intermediate practical skills, more complex data handling and statistics, together with problem-solving exercises, multiple-choice tests, group work, essays, literature reviews and oral presentations. There will be opportunities to complete practice questions and receive feedback to support learning
