Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this programme you will be able to:

1. Demonstrate in-depth, specialist knowledge and professional skills relevant to arts management and heritage studies and/or to demonstrate a sophisticated understanding of concepts, information and techniques at the forefront of the discipline;

2. Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of techniques applicable to your own research or advanced scholarship;

3. Take a proactive and self-reflective role in developing professional relationships with others;

4. Proactively formulate ideas and hypotheses and develop, implement and execute plans by which to evaluate these;

5. Critically and creatively evaluate current issues, research and advanced scholarship in arts management and heritage studies;

6. Make reflexive use of online digital collections.

Skills Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of the module, you will have:
1. The skills necessary to undertake a higher research degree and/or for employment in a higher capacity in industry or area of professional practice;
2. The ability to evaluate your own achievement and that of others;
3. Skills of self direction and effective decision making in complex and unpredictable situations;
4. Skills of independent learning and the ability to work in a way which ensures continuing professional development;
5. The ability to engage critically in the development of professional/disciplinary boundaries and norms.

Competence Standards
On successful completion of this level of study you will be able to:

1. Effectively communicate key facts, ideas, professional practice, problem solutions, results etc via assessment, for example, verbally, written, and visual form;

2. Demonstrate knowledge of the general principles and practices of professional codes of conduct relating to art galleries, museums and heritage;

3. Effectively exercises self-learning, with appropriate support where required;

4. Demonstrate effectiveness in directing, monitoring and evaluating your work within and beyond taught sessions.

Assessment

You will be assessed using a variety of methods. These include extended essays, reflective writing, presentations, practice-based projects, action-based learning, group work, and a dissertation. Our assessment is led by principles of relevance, fairness and inclusivity, and the development of vital skills beyond university, such as problem-solving, adaptability, self-reliance and reflexivity.
