1. An advanced knowledge of significant concepts, theory, materials and texts within the fields of English literary studies2. A rich understanding of the relationship between literary works and key socio-historical and political events and developments within English-speaking cultures 3. A critically informed perspective on, and analytic approach to, established and emergent issues within English Literature and related disciplinesSkills Learning Outcomes1. The ability to design and develop an independent research project, and to show similar skills in the preparation of other module summative assessments2. Demonstration of a strong understanding of techniques of analysis and interpretation applicable to the research questions and topics studied, drawing on traditional and digital tools and literacies3. formulate ideas and hypotheses, and develop, implement and execute plans to investigate and evaluate these4. a reflective understanding of relationships between the content of the different modules studied on the MA programme
Assessment
The modules feature a range of assessment types, with essays being the preferred format. The MA capstone is a 12,000-word dissertation. All modules have opportunities for formative feedback (written and/or spoken) to help students in their learning.
