B3 - Describe and discuss confidently, accurately and in detail, using appropriate terminology, a range of topics in organic chemistry. Suggest synthetic pathways to target compounds using the principles of structure and reactivityC3 - Describe and discuss confidently, accurately and in detail, using appropriate terminology, a range of topics in inorganic solution-based chemistry including catalysis and/or inorganic materials chemistry. Apply these to systematically solve complex problems across these areas.D3 - Describe and discuss confidently, accurately and in detail, using appropriate terminology, topics in physical chemistry such as chemical kinetics, classical and statistical thermodynamics. Use these to systematically solve complex problems across these areas.E3 - Explain and rationalise the fundamentals of one or more specialisms within the chemical sciences, and apply these to the solution of a range of theoretical and applied problems. F3 - Carry out scripted & investigative experiments that produce organic and inorganic compounds using advanced techniques such as Kughroher distillation. Assessment
Achievement will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes of the modules specified for the year/programme and may include written examinations, in-class and online tests, problem sheets, assignments, and coursework in the form of projects, reports, presentations and posters.
