Year 4

Learning outcomes

- an understanding of a work environment, how it functions and their contribution to it;
- an understanding of how to apply their work-based learning to other areas of personal development, including academic performance, and the ability to do so;
- a high level of transferable skills including communication (written and oral), self motivation, initiative, organisation and time management, objective setting, negotiating and team working;
- an ability to decide, plan and compete in the job market.

Transferable (key) skills

- the transferable/key/generic skills necessary for employment;
- the exercise of initiative and personal responsibility;
- the deployment of decision making skills in complex and unpredictable situations;
- the communication of information, ideas, problems and solutions in a variety of ways to a variety of audiences;
- the ability to undertake appropriate further training of a professional or equivalent nature.

Assessment

The student must pass two assessment items:
- A report (worth 80% of the final year mark) - To include: skills development appraisal; description of Placement Provider's business and organisation; description of placement activities; portfolio of evidence
- An oral presentation (worth 20%) - An account of the placement experience in reference to personal and academic skills development.
