Learning outcomes
On completion of the year/programme students should have provided evidence of being able to:- Understand and demonstrate coherent and detailed subject knowledge and professional competencies some of which will be informed by recent research/scholarship in the discipline;- Deploy accurately standard techniques of analysis and enquiry within the discipline;- Demonstrate a conceptual understanding which enables the development and sustaining of an argument;- Describe and comment on particular aspects of recent research and/or scholarship;- Appreciate the uncertainty, ambiguity and limitations of knowledge in the discipline;- Make appropriate use of scholarly reviews and primary sources;- Apply their knowledge and understanding in order to initiate and carry out an extended piece of work or project;- Present succinctly to a range of audiences (orally, electronically or in writing) rational and reasoned arguments that address a given problem in Artificial Intelligence;- Recognise the professional, economic, social, environmental, moral and ethical issues involved in the sustainable exploitation of computer technology and be guided by the adoption of appropriate professional, ethical and legal practices; - Evaluate systems in terms of general quality attributes and possible trade-offs presented within the given problem;- Critically analyse and apply a range of concepts, principles and practice of Artificial Intelligence in an appropriate manner in the context of loosely defined scenarios, showing effective judgement in the selection and use of tools and techniques;- Produce work involving problem identification, the analysis, the design or the development of a system involving Artificial Intelligence techniques, with accompanying documentation, recognising the important relationships between these. The work will show problem-solving and evaluation skills, draw upon supporting evidence and demonstrate a good understanding of the need for quality; - Apply appropriate practices within a professional, legal and ethical framework and identify mechanisms for continuing professional development and lifelong learning;- Explain a wide range of applications based upon the body of knowledge of Artificial Intelligence.

Assessment
Achievement will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes of the modules specified for the year/programme and will include:- Demonstrating the ability top apply a broad range of aspects of the discipline;- Work that draws on a wide variety of material;- The ability to evaluate and criticise received opinion;- Evidence of an ability to conduct independent, in depth enquiry within the discipline;- Eork that is typically both evaluative and creative.
