Learning outcomes

At the end of this programme you will be able to demonstrate:
1. A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the themes, methods, and problems of Political Science.

2. The ability to think critically about current issues and research in the discipline of Political Science.

3. A critical evaluation of received opinion and dominant approaches within a range of political science sub-fields.

4. The ability to evaluate your own research methods, theories, analysis and conclusions, and to evaluate the same in political science scholarship more generally.

5. The ability to use and analyse data from national and international databases (with statistical or modelling skills).

6. Critical insights from case studies and/or experiential learning-based teaching.

Skills Learning Outcomes
At the end of this programme you will be able to:

1. Design and develop an independent research project.

2. Critically engage in the development of professional/disciplinary boundaries and norms.

3. Use digital skills in a variety of contexts to discover and retrieve information, to produce documents, and to communicate and present findings to others.

4. Communicate your ideas accurately, effectively, and persuasively to individuals and groups.

5. Gather and interrogate information to identify whether it is accurate and relevant.

6. Express yourself confidently and concisely in written format.

7. Identify and deploy appropriate research methods to create and analyse data.

Assessment

Each module is assessed separately, through assessments that range from long essays to projects and assignments, offering you the opportunity to work in your particular field of interest within each topic area. You will also carry out a dissertation in a research area of your choice.
