Learning outcomes

1. - demonstrate an understanding of the main principles, techniques and issues in transport planning and engineering;
2. - demonstrate an understanding of the principles of engineering design as they apply to highway and public transport infrastructure;
3. - demonstrate competence in the identification, collection, management and analysis of a range of data related to transport and its interaction with the environment, society and the economy;
4. - demonstrate a competence in transport modelling techniques;
5. - identify and understand the application of the most appropriate instruments of transport planning and engineering to specific transport problems and projects;
6. - specialise in selected aspects of the field, gaining deeper knowledge and advanced skills which can be applied in practice;
7. - demonstrate awareness of advanced skills and their practical application in possible future employment in the transport sector or in further study or research;
8. - work effectively in interdisciplinary teams on cases and problems relating to transport planning and engineering;
9. - plan and conduct an independent research or design project on a topic related to transport.

Skills Learning Outcomes
Masters (Taught) students will have had the opportunity to acquire skills in the following categories as defined in the modules specified for the programme:

Assessment

The learning outcomes for the programme have been designed in conjunction with the learning outcomes of the modules.
Each module comprises a balance of assessment of understanding of core principles, critique of practice and demonstrably applying the core principles to real-world challenges. A range of traditional (Online Time Limited Assessments, essays) and authentic assessments (e.g., reports) are used.
