Learning outcomes

1. Recognise and apply knowledge of English academic literacy (including verbal and visual), language and skills
required in your postgraduate programme.

2. Demonstrate audience and discourse awareness, including of typical genres in the business disciplines.

3. Display awareness of ethical academic practices, including in relation to the use of Gen AI.

Skills Learning Outcomes
4. Use English to communicate competently within your subject-specific fields.

5. Apply appropriate academic integrity conventions and practices within your own studies.

6. Employ effective strategies to approach your academic studies in English.

Competence Standards
* Effectively evaluate, select and communicate key academic facts, ideas and results in English.

* Effectively use theoretical and practical knowledge in English to respond to academic tasks.

* Effectively apply acquired theoretical and practical knowledge of English to academic study.

* Effectively apply general principles and practices of academic integrity in a Higher Education context.

Assessment

Progress and achievement are assessed through a variety of formative and summative tasks, with ample opportunity for tutor and peer feedback and self-evaluation. Assessment tasks are aligned fully with the knowledge and skills learning outcomes outlined above and ensure assessment of:

* proficiency in the language, skills, knowledge and understanding required of a student entering postgraduate-level study

* effective performance required in the context of a university-based academic environment, through integrated assessments that cover all four skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking).
