Learning outcomes

At the end of Year 2, students should be able to:
- Interpret a wide range of imaginative/informative texts and construct a coherent argument around them;
- Put these texts in the context of their times as well as assess their relevance to contemporary environmental practices;
- Convert knowledge of environmental values and ideas into practical applications 'on the ground', with reference to others' work and, increasingly, their own initiatives;
- Communicate others' and, increasingly, their own research findings succinctly and effectively.

Transferable (key) skills

Students will have had the opportunity to acquire, as defined in the modules specified for the programme:
- Skills related to the awareness of the relevance of their own work to a variety of professional careers;
- Skills necessary for effective communication in different contexts;
- Skills related to the ability to make decisions in relation to their own work, and to working with others.

Assessment

Achievement will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes of the modules specified for the year/programme and will include:
- Ability to apply a broad range of competencies to both standard and complex situations;
- Ability to assess different kinds and amounts of material within the subject area;
- Ability to evaluate and criticise received opinion.
