Learning outcomes

On completion of the year/programme students should have provided evidence of being able to:
- Demonstrate a familiarity with the basic concepts, information, practical competencies and techniques which are associated with the theory and practice of work as a nursing associate.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the main methods of enquiry in the subject and the ability to use established techniques to undertake analysis of information in order to propose solutions.
- The ability to evaluate the appropriateness of different approaches to solving problems and to apply these in a work context.
- The ability to apply their knowledge and skills to new situations, including in the workplace.
- Appreciate their strengths and weaknesses as learners.
- Demonstrate an awareness of professional and disciplinary boundaries.
- Identify ethical issues in their professional practice and work through ethical issues in their professional practice that present questions of conflicting priorities and moral imperatives.

- Qualities and transferable skills necessary for employment in the role of a nursing associate.
- Skills necessary for the exercising of personal responsibility as a nursing associate.

Assessment

- Demonstrating the knowledge and application of standard concepts, information and techniques relevant to the nursing associate role.
- Use of a range of formats for assessment that develop skills of effective communication for both academic and professional settings.
- Demonstrating abilities, skills and competencies to appropriate clinical standards.
